Accountability/Evaluation
Create mechanisms that ensure and sustain the process of successful
technology infusion across the teacher certification programs.
Activities
and Progress
Develop
methods for accountability among faculty and programs.
This is a survey constructed to assess the standards being met by each
required teacher preparation course.This
survey was constructed to assess the standards being met by each
required teacher preparation course. The survey was disseminated
to teacher preparation faculty in early December, 2001. It is
based on a one to one match to the Illinois state standards and
asks faculty to submit syllabi and indicate any documentation
(student artifacts) that can be collected that are evidentiary
of these standards. Data is being compiled in a data base system,
identifying potential weaknesses in programs with respect to state
technology standards. This information will guide project personnel
in contacting and suggesting potential modules that can be developed
to meet missing standards.
Accountablity
Survey
Develop
methods to assess student success in meeting state standards for
technology.
Two mechanisms have been developed to address this goal activity,
the basic skills survey and the student outcome survey. Two types
of evaluation mechanisms have been developed addressing this goal
activity. First, a basic skills survey has been developed. This
instrument is a self report survey asking students to rate their
ability on prerequisite technology skills for program entry and
is used to guide students weak in certain areas to campus workshops
and resources to boost their skills level. A second set of assessments
has been created to document skills that student teachers leave
UIC programs with. Baseline data on our students will be collected
using these assessments during Spring semester 2002.

methods to assess technology infrastructure
The Educational Technology Committee has drafted a technology
plan that was officially adopted by the college faculty on Jan
25th 2002. This plan details policies governing technology use
and acquisition within the college as well as personnel and training
issues.
